JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Schuyler County earned three all-state medals at the MSHSAA Class 2 state track and field meet May 22-23 at Jefferson City High School. Deacon Schoonover led the Rams with a third-place finish in the boys shot put, recording a throw of 15.82 meters. Schoonover also medaled in the discus, placing seventh with a throw of 43.41 meters. QUEEN CITY, Mo. — Schuyler County R-1 High School celebrated the Class of 2026 during commencement exercises Sunday, May 17, at the school in Queen City. The ceremony opened with the processional, followed by welcome and introductions from Superintendent Shawn Corbett. Schuyler County is one win away from the final four. Behind a dominant complete-game pitching performance from Gage Brownell and a steady offensive attack, the Rams powered past Silex 9-3 Monday, May 25, in a Class 2 sectional baseball game. The victory sends Schuyler County into the Class 2 quarterfinal round Wednesday against Eugene. CENTRALIA, Mo. — Schuyler County qualified two athletes for the state track and field meet Saturday, May 16, at the MSHSAA Class 1 Sectional 2 meet at Centralia High School. Mason Oliver won the boys long jump with a leap of 6.64 meters. Deacon Schoonover advanced in two throwing events, placing second in the discus at 46.23 meters and second in the shot put at 15.75 meters. The top four finishers in each event advanced to state.
