Schuyler R-1 Approves Budget, Sets Tuition Rate

QUEEN CITY, Mo. — The Schuyler R-1 Board of Education approved the district’s 2026-27 budget and handled several annual housekeeping items during its regular meeting June 17. The board met at 6 p.m. with President Jill Moncrief presiding. Board member Marti McGoldrick was absent. The board approved the agenda, minutes from the May 19 meeting, bills and the monthly financial report. Director of Finance Tiffany Newland reported total revenue of $677,193 and total expenses of $820,758 for May. Schuyler County Has 12 Buses Approved in Annual Inspection

LANCASTER — Schuyler County R-I had 12 of its 14 buses approved during the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s 2026 annual school bus inspection program. According to the Patrol’s report, 85.7 percent of Schuyler County’s fleet was approved during the initial inspection. One bus, or 7.2 percent, was listed as defective, and one bus, or 7.1 percent, was placed out of service. Buses found to have defective components must be repaired within 10 days. Buses placed out of service must be corrected, reinspected and returned to service by Patrol personnel before they can transport passengers. A total of 287 Missouri school…

QUEEN CITY, Mo. — Schuyler County R-1 High School celebrated the Class of 2026 during commencement exercises Sunday, May 17, at the school in Queen City. Schuyler County is one win away from the final four. Behind a dominant complete-game pitching performance from Gage Brownell and a steady offensive attack, the Rams powered past Silex 9-3 Monday, May 25, in a Class 2 sectional baseball game. The victory sends Schuyler County into the Class 2 quarterfinal round Wednesday against Eugene. CENTRALIA, Mo. — Schuyler County qualified two athletes for the state track and field meet Saturday, May 16, at the MSHSAA Class 1 Sectional 2 meet at Centralia High School. Mason Oliver won the boys long jump with a leap of 6.64 meters. Deacon Schoonover advanced in two throwing events, placing second in the discus at 46.23 meters and second in the shot put at 15.75 meters. The top four finishers in each event advanced to state.
