Richard Carroll Miller 86, of Mesa, Arizona passed away Saturday February 11, 2023 at 10:40 PM. 

The son of Leland and Pauline Miller (Casady), he was born January 27, 1937 on the family farm 3 miles east of Queen City, Missouri. On May 24, 1997, he was united in marriage to Anita Miller who survives. Also surviving are his three children, Charlene McNeil and husband Gary of Durango, Colorado, Frank Miller and wife Carla of Queen City, Missouri and Chris Miller of Seattle, Washington; four grandchildren, Jessica Coultrip and husband Justin, Coleman Miller, Cody Miller, and Kate Miller; one great granddaughter, Scarlett Coultrip; one brother Ronald Miller and wife Marilyn of Marion, Iowa. 

He is preceded in death by his parents. 

Richard attended Queen City High School where he enjoyed playing sports and showing registered Hampshire sheep and hogs with his brother, Ron. He later became one of the first classes at Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville to participate in the 3-2 program while on a deferment from the draft. He attended three years in Kirksville and two years at the University of Missouri in Rolla.  He received a Math degree from Kirksville and an Electrical Engineering degree from Rolla.  Upon graduating from Rolla some “top brass” came to him to see if he would be interested in being a jet pilot. Richard wanted to but they found out he could not hear out of one ear and his military career never happened. For 30 years he worked at Lockheed Martin in Denver, Colorado where he managed a software programming division that helped with the Voyager Space Program. 

Services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Queen City, Missouri. Time and date to be announced at a later time.
