Jean Marie (Ray) Dufur, 79 of Queen City, Missouri passed away at the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, Missouri.
The daughter of Howard Flake and Charlotte Matilda (Finnern) Ray, she was born on January 11, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was a 1964 graduate of Queen City High School in Queen City, Missouri. On August 15, 1965 in rural Queen City, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Terry Edward Dufur and to this union two children were born, Sandy and David.
Jean is survived by her husband, Terry of Queen City, Missouri; children, Sandy Daniels and husband, David of Queen City, Missouri and David Dufur and wife, Marla of Queen City, Missouri; three grandchildren Logan Daniels and wife, Makenzie of Queen City, Missouri, Taylor Liska and husband, Haden of Eldon, Missouri and Preston Dufur and wife, Karley of Queen City, Missouri; four great grandchildren, Chip and Temple Daniels of Queen City, Missouri and Kolbi and Charles Dufur of Queen City, Missouri; brothers and sister, Mike Ray and wife, Sharon of Wichita, Kansas, Mark Ray of Alton, Illinois and Nancy Jackson of St. Charles, Missouri; nieces and nephews; other family members and many good friends.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Ty Daniels; one great granddaughter, Jolene Faith Dufur and two brothers, Charles Ray and Joe Ray.
After graduation from high school, Jean attended what is now Truman State University and worked at the Kennedy Theatre and then the KOH Hospital. She and Terry moved to Kansas City where she was employed by Bendix Company. They returned to Queen City, Missouri, where she was the secretary for Dean Charles Campbell at NMSU. She later began working at Hollister Inc. as the secretary to the plant manager and worked her way up to being the second shift plant superintendent until her retirement. After her retirement with Hollister Inc., she began employment with Whitworth Farms.
Jean enjoyed traveling where she and Terry visited 49 of the 50 states. Jean made sure her mother and grandchildren visited most of these states as well. Terry and Jean took pleasure in finding rusty treasures to enhance their beautiful flower gardens, topping it all off with the ever-admired old Studebaker pickup which was always delightfully decorated for each season.
Jean served on the Schuyler County School Board, where she was instrumental in getting the bond passed for the new elementary building. Many will also remember she ran the BINGO stand at Queen City Pioneer Days for many years. Jean’s crowning achievement was ensuring that both of her children graduated from college.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri.
