Charles (Chum) Eugene Wolken

September 10, 1971 to October 21, 2020

Charles Eugene Wolken, 49 of rural Glenwood, Missouri passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at his home.

The son of Simon Edward Wolken and Lillie Ann (Ferdig) Swearingin, he was born on September 10, 1971, in Moline, Illinois. He attended Lebanon Elementary School in Lebanon, Missouri, and Schuyler County High School in Queen City, Missouri. Recently, he had been working for the Amish and had made several friends, doing so.

In 2008, he found the love of his life, Renee Novinger and her two daughters, Heather and Ashley Novinger. He had come to know the girls, as his own very quickly, even though they were mouthy (as he said). Charles and Renee were together for a total of 12 years.

Charles was part of a very large family, all of whom loved him dearly. You could always count on Chum to be there, when you needed him. He was a good friend, a caring brother, a helpful son, a loving husband, and a wonderful father.

Charles is survived by his fiancé, Renee Novinger of rural Glenwood, Missouri; children, Charles Eugene Wolken, Jr. of Kearney, Missouri, Lodemia (Kalei) Wolken of Lebanon, Missouri, Dalton Evan Gan of Lebanon, Missouri, Heather Novinger of Glenwood, Missouri, and Ashley Novinger of Lancaster, Missouri; two grandchildren, Zane Wolken of Lebanon, Missouri, and Mia Boggs of Lancaster, Missouri; four sisters, Tina Sherman of Lebanon, Missouri, Jennifer Lane of Lebanon, Missouri, Tammy Graham of Kansas City, Missouri, and a special sister, Angela Dyer of Glenwood, Missouri; one brother, Michael McGrath; a second mother, Debbie Lasley of Glenwood, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and other family members.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents.

Charles enjoyed fishing and cruising around town, listening to Kid Rock! He loved spending time with family, that was most important to him. He would encourage his family to go places and do things, even if they did not want to, and every single time, they were glad they did!

He made the simplest of days most exciting and memorable. Charles enjoyed the little things. It was not fame or fortune that he desired, it was to have friends and family surrounding him, who loved and cared for him greatly. He was a spiritual man, a follower of God. He will be missed by many friends, family, and all who knew him.
