MRS. BETTY JEAN THOMPSON 

Mrs. Betty Jean Thompson, 79, Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Heisinger Bluffs. She was born Sunday, July 30, 1944 in Schuyler County, Missouri a daughter of the late Omar F. and Esther L. (Schmitter) Seamster. 

Betty graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College, which is now known as Truman State University. 

On Sunday, June 13, 1965 she was united in marriage to John Charles Thompson who preceded her in death on Monday, March 25, 2019. 

Betty loved reading, particularly her Bible. She enjoyed socializing with friends, trivia games, and tried to not miss an episode of Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother; a true matriarch of her family. 

Mrs. Thompson is survived by three children: Beth Thompson of Holts Summit, Jeanette (Timothy) McCumber of Holts Summit, Al (Joni) Thompson of Scottsburg, IN.; four granddaughters: Laura, Jackie, Katelyn, Megan; brother: Robert Seamster of Queen City, MO.; brother in-laws: Lowell Gordy of Arbela, MO., Ross (Laveta) Thompson of Okmulgee, OK., David (Marie) Thompson of Lampassas, TX.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. 

In addition to her loving husband: John, she was preceded in death by her parents: Omar and Esther Seamster; sisters: Faye Turner, Linda Gordy; brother in law: Mike Turner; sister in-law: Mary Baker. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2024 at Union Hill Baptist Church – Holts Summit, MO., with Pastor L.P. Cook officiating. Friends will be received by the family from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. 

Memorials may be made to Union Hill Baptist Church in memory of Mrs. Thompson.
