QUEEN CITY, Mo. — Schuyler County R-1 High School celebrated the achievements of 36 graduating seniors during its commencement ceremony held Sunday, May 18, in the high school gymnasium.
The ceremony began at 2 p.m. with a processional performed by Les Aeschliman, followed by a welcome and introductions by Principal Kyle Windy. Families, friends, and faculty gathered to honor the Class of 2025 and reflect on their accomplishments.
Diane McClain presented academic honors, and Stacy O’Haver announced scholarship recipients, highlighting the hard work and dedication of the graduates.
Salutatorian Parker Dabney addressed his classmates, sharing memories and words of encouragement for the future. Valedictorian Drake Spurgeon followed with a heartfelt speech reflecting on the journey through high school and the opportunities ahead.
A senior slide show, created by Chelsea Miller, showcased highlights and memories from the class’s time together.
Superintendent Andy Akers awarded diplomas and presented flowers to the graduates. The ceremony concluded with the formal presentation of the Class of 2025 by Board President Ed Koser, followed by a recessional by Aeschliman.
The event marked a milestone for the graduating seniors as they look ahead to new chapters in their lives beyond Schuyler County R-1
