JANET ANN (HICKS) LEWIS
April 24, 1937 – December 30, 2024
Janet Ann (Hicks) Lewis 87 was born on April 24, 1937 in Kirksville, Missouri. She passed away in Palm Harbor, Florida on December 30, 2024.
Janet attended grade school in Kirksville, Missouri and graduated from High School in Jefferson City, Missouri. She attended college in Springfield, Missouri at Drury University and graduated from Culver Stockton in Canton, Missouri with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and a stenographer in the President’s Office.
Janet married William Aaron Lewis in June 1960 and shortly thereafter moved from Canton, Missouri to Lancaster, Missouri with William. Janet and her husband, William owned and operated the Modernaire Truck Stop for many years. Janet was an active member of the First Christian Church in Jefferson City, Missouri and then the Lancaster Christian Church in Lancaster, Missouri. She was also in Beta Sigma Phi and PEO. Throughout her life, she enjoyed playing bridge, reading books, cooking and writing letters to family and friends.
Janet moved to Florida in 2004 after the passing of her husband, William, to be closer to her children. She enjoyed the warmth and sun of Florida. She also gained many new friends to do activities with in her Highland Lakes community.
Janet is survived by her three sons, William Michael Lewis of San Diego, California, Richard Doyle Lewis & his significant other, Amy (Boling) Reid of Palm Harbor, Florida and Thomas Patrick Lewis and wife, Julie (Ross) Lewis of Palm Harbor, Florida. She is also survived by her sister, Judy (Hicks Griffith of Naples, Florida.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, William Aaron Lewis on March 20, 2003; father, Kenneth Hicks of Jefferson City, Missouri; mother, Bertha (Hagman) Hicks of Jefferson City, Missouri and brothers, Jeffrey Hicks of Jefferson City, Missouri & Jon Hicks of Naples, Florida.
Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri at a later date as the body has been cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, Missouri.
