CHARLES WILLIAM COMSTOCK 

December 12, 1939 – December 21, 2024 

Charles William Comstock, 85 of rural Downing, Missouri passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, Missouri. 

The son of Tillman Edward and Agnes (Westhoff) Comstock, he was born on December 12, 1939 in rural Downing, Missouri. 

Following his graduation from Downing High School in Downing, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Ardis Kay Weilbrenner on May 22, 1960 at the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri and to this union four children were born, Christine, Emily, Kathy and Charles II.

Charles is survived by his wife, Ardis Comstock of rural Downing, Missouri; three children, Christine Parker and husband, Jamie of Memphis, Missouri, Kathy Greenstreet and husband, Todd of Downing, Missouri and Chuck Comstock and wife, Melissa of Kirksville, Missouri; grandchildren, Joshua Parker and wife, Sarah of Memphis, Missouri, Kyle Parker and wife, Elizabeth of St. Louis, Missouri, Phillip Parker and wife, Chloe of St. Louis, Missouri, Ashley Cunningham of Kirksville, Missouri, Alyssa Philips and husband, Cohen of Selma, Iowa, Keeley Greenstreet of Queen City, Missouri, Spencer Greenstreet and wife, Haiden of Queen City, Missouri and Arianna and Bianca Comstock of Kirksville, Missouri; 12 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; cousins; other family members and many good friends and neighbors. 

Charles is preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Leola Marie Comstock; one daughter, Emily Ann Comstock on May 13, 2023; two brothers, Derwood Comstock and wife, Dorene and Tillman Comstock (Junior) and wife, Phyllis; one niece, Lori Comstock Arnold and one nephew, Jimmy Comstock. 

Charles was a member of the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri and served as a Deacon as long as his health permitted. 

Charles and Ardis were grain and livestock farmers for a number of years north of Downing, Missouri. He loved going to Lake Rathburn with all the neighbors, enjoying boating and skiing. Charles and Ardis wintered in Texas for approximately 10 years, traveling and seeing the country. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 at the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri at 11:30 a.m. with Larry Smith, Pastor of the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri officiating. Pianist will be Donna Byrn with special selections of “Precious Lord Take My Hand,” “Go Rest High On That Mountain” and “Dad”. Soloist for “Precious Lord Take My Hand” will be Jamie Parker. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Groseclose, Billie Jackson, Chris Comstock, Jerry Scurlock, Jason Schmitter and Doug Ruth. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Downing City Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com.
