Lonnie Joe Farley, 80 of Downing, Missouri passed away at his home in Downing, Missouri on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. 

The son of Robert Darroll and Marcella (Dale) Farley, he was born on May 3, 1943 in rural Downing, Missouri. He attended the Downing High School in Downing, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Gilfillan on August 20, 1961 and to this union three children were born, Treasa, Tammy and Tommy. 

Joe is survived by his wife, Barbara Farley of Downing, Missouri; his children, Treasa Beeler and husband, Billy of Lancaster, Missouri, Tammy Elliott and her husband, Greg of Downing, Missouri and Tommy Farley and wife, Tara of Downing, Missouri; 10 grandchildren, Damian Beeler and wife, Alaine of Toledo, Ohio, Daniel Beeler and wife, Sydney of Downing, Missouri, Devon Beeler of Lancaster, Missouri, Dawson Beeler and fiancée, Makayla of Columbia, Missouri, Autumn Jackson and husband, Wesley, of Downing, Missouri, Dakota Elliott and wife, Allison of Queen City, Missouri, Shyla Elliott of Queen City, Missouri, Kaytie Farley of Bloomfield, Iowa, Logan Farley and wife, Madison of Ottumwa, Iowa and Baylie Wood and husband, Trevor of Kirksville, Missouri; 7 great grandchildren, Baylin and Grainley Beeler, Jasmine, Keya and Butterfly Jackson and Hunter and Barrett Wood; one brother, Gail Farley and wife, Cathy Jo of rural Downing, Missouri; two sisters, Ardith Thomson and husband, Dick of Memphis, Missouri and Marcia Slavin and husband, Tim of Memphis, Missouri; 1 sister-in-law, Janet Murphy of Kahoka, Missouri; nieces and nephews and other family members. 

Joe is preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Bill Squires; one grandson, Lonnie Gail Elliott; three brothers, Tim Jay Farley, James Darroll Farley and Bobby Dale Farley in infancy; two nephews, Derick Preston Farley and Jesse William Ketchum; one great nephew, Luke Preston Leasure; two great nieces, Jessica Nicole Buckallew and Josie Lane Farley; one sister-in-law, Mary Alice Farley and 2 brothers-in-law, Bob Dial and Junior Murphy. 

Joe attended the Klondike Church of Christ in rural Davis County, Iowa for a number of years. He also was a member of the National Farmers Organization (NFO) for many years and took a special interest in this organization. He was a board member for MFA. He was a grain and livestock farmer for many years in rural Downing, Missouri. Joe and Barbara also owned and operated Farley’s Country Mart in Downing, Missouri, then owned and operated Oakridge Furniture in Memphis, Missouri and finally Farley Trading Post in Downing, Missouri. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, Pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith in Lancaster, Missouri officiating. Music will be special selections of “Wings of a Dove” and “In The Garden”. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for Downing City Cemetery.
