Two out-of-state men were arrested in connection with an alleged card skimming incident at the Casey’s store in Lancaster.
According to court documents, Yuniesky Rodriguez Hernandez of Barrytown, Michigan, and Evier Carrato Yedra, of Naples, Florida, are charged with Property Damage 1st Degree, a Class E felony, Tampering with Computer Equipment and Tampering with Computer Data.
According to the probable cause statements filed against Carrato Yedra (Case 24SY-CR00083) and Rodriguez Hernandez (Case 24SY-CR00084), Schuyler County Sheriff Joe Wuebker was called to the Casey’s store in Lancaster at approximately 7:30am on July 7, regarding a possible skimmer device placed on pump #2. Staff at the store were unable to open the pump until a Casey’s maintenance person could arrive. A witness stated that the suspect vehicle was a white Ford pickup. Wuebker was not allowed to watch security camera footage without permission from Casey’s Corporate.
At 7:00am on July 8, the Casey’s maintenance person contacted Wuebker, advising him there was a skimmer on the pump. Wuebker resonded, and photos were taken and the skimmer was seized as evidence.
On July 10, at approximately 5:27pm, Wuebker received another call from the Casey’s store, advising that two male suspects had broken into pump #2, and they were able to photograph suspect vehicles: a white Ford F250 and a gray GMC Denali. Both trucks were parked in a way which appeared to block the view of the pumps. Upon arrival, Wuebker was shown the damage to the door on the pump, which appeared to have been pried open.
Wueber ran the plate of the Denali, and determined it belonged to Rodriguez Hernandez. The second vehicle was identified through the use of the sheriff’s office license plate reader camera. Wuebker contacted the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Scotland County, as both vehicles were seen driving eastbound.
Carrato Yedra was arrested in Kahoka by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and Hernandez was arrested in Scotland County. A bond hearing for Carrato Yedra was held on Monday, July 15. The court set the bond amount at $25,000 surety, or $8000 cash only. Carrato Yedra will wear a GPS monitor and pay for the monthly fees, as well as contact his attorney once a week. His next hearing is set for August 21, 2024, at 2:00pm. Carrato Yedra is represented by Aldo Jesus Dominguez from Joplin. Carrato Yedra is being held in the Clark County jail.
A bond hearing was waived by Rodriguez Hernandez’s counsel, Sheri Nelson of Kirksville. His next hearing is scheduled for July 17, 2024. Rodriguez Hernandez is being held in the Schuyler County jail.
These charges are an accusation of a crime. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
