On Saturday, November 1, be sure to attend the Lancaster Fall Festival on the Lancaster Square. The event will run from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The Old Settler’s Reunion group is hosting the event. Cole Tippett, president of the Lancaster Old Settler’s Reunion, said the group wants to organize community events that bring more value and family fun to the area.
Last year, the group hosted a Chili Cookoff while the Hall Museum offered tours the same day.
“That was really fun, and the community loved it. It was really well attended,” Tippett said.
After such a great turnout, the group decided to have more options at the event.
“After last year’s Chili Cookoff, we decided to make the event bigger. We wanted to add more children’s events,” Tippett said.
This year’s Lancaster Fall Festival will feature something for everyone. Activities will include a Chili Cookoff, Haunted Hall House Museum tours, free children’s games, Story Time with the Schuyler County Library, pumpkin painting, pumpkin bowling, a petting zoo, a baking contest, a cornhole tournament, train rides, hayrides, a donut-eating contest, and much more.
“The more things that you offer, the more people you may draw to an event,” Tippett said. “We want every surrounding community to come and be involved.”
The baking contest is free to enter. Entries should be brought to the XLCR Building on the west side of the Lancaster Square by 3:00 p.m. Items will be auctioned off after judging, with proceeds going to the Lancaster Old Settler’s Reunion Fund. Categories include cornbread, pumpkin desserts such as pie or pumpkin roll, apple pie, jams and jellies, and fall-themed cookies. Cash prizes will be awarded to winners.
The Chili Cookoff will be another exciting event. The cost to enter is $25, and there is a $5 fee to taste the chili and vote for your favorite. Winners will be determined by People’s Choice votes, with prizes of $200 for first place, $100 for second place, and $50 for third place. Electricity will be available, but participants are asked to bring their own extension cords. To register for the cookoff, contact Cole Tippett at 660-216-1991.
HVFD Cornhole will host a Cornhole Tournament during the festival. All ages and skill levels are welcome to participate in the double elimination tournaments. There will be a Backyard Tournament A with a $20 entry fee per team and a Competitive Tournament B with a $40 entry fee per team. Registration begins at 3:00 p.m., and games will start at 4:00 p.m. Those interested can sign up on Scoreholio or contact Bethany McCarty for more information.
A tractor show will also take place on Lancaster Square at 3:00 p.m. Any tractor, regardless of size or condition, is welcome to participate, and prize drawings will be held
