BONETA VERLENE (ANDERSON) KERBY
September 23, 1932 – June 13, 2026
Boneta Verlene (Anderson) Kerby, 93 of rural Lancaster, Missouri passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, Missouri.
The daughter of Robert Edward Anderson and Reta Dell Speak, she was born on September 23, 1932 in rural Livonia, Missouri on a farm. She was a 1950 graduate of Livonia High School in Livonia, Missouri. On May 11, 1950, she was united in marriage to Gerald Eugene “Pedro” Kerby and to this union four children were born, Randall, Ronald, Mark and Janet.
Boneta is survived by her children, Randall Kerby and wife, Cathy of Rutledge, Tennessee, Ronald Kerby and wife, Cathy of Kirksville, Missouri and Mark Kerby of Louisville, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; one brother, Olin Anderson and wife, Alice Jane of Liberty, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews; other family members, many good friends and neighbors.
Boneta is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Reta Anderson; her husband of 58 years, Gerald Kerby on August 2, 2008 and one daughter, Janet Abel on November 24, 2016.
Boneta started out as a housewife and together, with her husband, established an electrical and appliance business called Kerby Electric in Lancaster, Missouri. They operated the business for 20 years before selling the business in 1977 and becoming full-time farmers again.
Boneta’s passions were her children and grandchildren, always willing to lend a hand. She loved gardening, watching basketball, the St. Louis Cardinals and even got to like football. She loved to read and was a sucker for stray animals.
Boneta and Gerald were members of the Lancaster Christian Church and were baptized in 1981.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Beverly and Sonny Smyser of Lancaster, Missouri officiating. Music will be special selections of “Take My Hand Precious Lord” and “No Never Alone”. Pallbearers will be Bryan Jones, Denton Jones, Chase Kerby, Cameron Kerby, James Wallace and Jack Kerby. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Norman Funeral Home between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Memorials have been established for Schuyler County Nutrition Site or Hospice of Northeast Missouri.
