MONTGOMERY CITY, Mo. — May 17, 2025 — The Rams are rolling into Jefferson City. Schuyler County High School delivered a powerful performance at the MSHSAA Class 1 Sectional 2 meet on Saturday at Montgomery County, qualifying in five events for next weekend’s state championships. Behind dominant efforts in sprints, relays, and throws, the Rams proved they are more than ready to take on Missouri’s best. The star of the day was Tyson Droste, who charged to 1st place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.80 seconds, showcasing his control and finishing speed in one of the meet’s most demanding events. Mason Oliver wasn’t far behind, claiming 3rd in the same event (53.58) to join Droste at state in a double qualification for Schuyler in the 400. The Rams’ momentum carried into the relays, where their 4×400-meter team surged to a 2nd place finish in 3:41.14, earning a clear path to state. The 4×200-meter relay team added to the qualifiers with a 4th place finish (1:37.93), narrowly holding off the field to secure the final qualifying spot. In the field events, Deacon Schoonover powered his way to a 2nd place finish in the shot put, throwing 14.38 metersand solidifying his place among Missouri’s top throwers. Schoonover also placed 6th in the discus (41.71m), rounding out a strong showing in the throws. Though Isaac Cullers (300m hurdles, 8th place) and Droste (8th in triple jump) didn’t advance in their second events, their efforts helped fuel a well-rounded and competitive day for Schuyler County.
