MONTE V. ASHMORE
Monte V. Ashmore, 79, of Macon, MO, passed away on July 1, 2026.
The son of Bill M. Ashmore and Mary Jane (Rankins) Ashmore. He was born on March 22, 1947, in Charleston, IL. Monte graduated from Windsor High School in Windsor, IL and attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. While attending college he met and married his wife, Kathy. To this union of 58 years two sons were born, Brian V. Ashmore, wife Karin of Moberly, MO and Mitchell J. Ashmore, wife Angela of Urbandale, IA. Monte was blessed with three granddaughters, Addison, Alexis and Alaina which he helped guide and support as they grew into beautiful and independent young women.
Monte proudly served as a member of the Army National Guard of Illinois from 1968 to 1974. He worked for R.R. Donnelley & Sons Printing Company in Mattoon, IL, until moving to Missouri to farm and raise Charolais cattle alongside his family. He was a member of the Lancaster Christian Church. He retired from Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company of Iowa in 2010. He enjoyed traveling, taking road trips in his Dodge Challenger and spending quality time with family and friends. He was an avid fan of the MU Tigers, Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears alongside whatever the granddaughters were a part of.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Gary and Steven.
Per Monte’s wishes there will be no services after cremation.
