QUEEN CITY, Mo. — The Queen City Board of Aldermen advanced multiple items of city business in recent meetings, including approval of a $717,000 sewer system revenue bond and the acceptance of contractor bids for local maintenance.
In a special meeting held Sept. 10, the board unanimously passed an ordinance authorizing the issuance of a sewerage system revenue bond through the State of Missouri’s Direct Loan Program. The ordinance, introduced and read by financial consultant Max McLiney of McLiney and Company, allows the city to secure up to $717,000 in funding to support wastewater infrastructure improvements. The ordinance was passed following two readings and a roll call vote, with all aldermen voting in favor.
The board previously met Sept. 8 to discuss the proposed bond and to review its agenda. During that session, members also approved a two-year renewal of the city’s subscription to the Schuyler County Times. Both meetings were attended by Mayor John March, all four aldermen — Brenda Barnes, Lewis McBee, Dennis Crabtree and Shane Aldridge — and City Clerks Tammy Veach and Kristy Hallgrimson.
At the regular meeting held Aug. 20, the board worked through a series of administrative items. Minutes from three prior meetings — the July 28 public hearing, Aug. 6 special meeting, and Aug. 7 public hearing — were read aloud and approved by unanimous votes. The board also approved the meeting agenda and the payment of monthly bills.
Mayor March presented Police Chief Jason Bunch’s report, which noted that city code enforcement is ongoing and that follow-ups are underway for previously issued letters and warnings.
In other business, the board accepted bids submitted by Stice, a local contractor, for unspecified work. No objections were raised to the contractor selection, and the motion passed 4-0.
Each meeting concluded with adjournment motions approved by unanimous vote. The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Sept. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.
