New Minister at Downing Christian Church

Downing Christian Church has hired Jake Levett to fill the full-time minister position at the church. Jake grew up in Callao, Missouri and said he is a middle child having an older and younger brother.

Jake stated that he more or less grew up in the ministry.

“The preacher in the Callao Chrisitan Church started a program called “Preacher Boys.” I was one of the very first boys in the program and preached my first sermon at the age of eight. It was probably about three minutes long and out of Revelations. I continued going to classes and took an internship at Callao after I graduated high school at Macon in 2023.”

“I took a part time ministry position in New Cambria and was there for about 18 months before being hired here at Downing.”

Jake is currently taking online classes with Summit Theological Seminary and classes from a new ministry training program started by Jamie Franke called, “Midwest Ministry Training.”

“My goal for the church is to help it grow as a place for families and individuals and to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. I would like to get a youth group started and see growth in the children’s church.”

“I am also working with the Schuyler and Scotland FCA groups. I invite everyone to join us on Sunday and become a part of our church family.”
