The Schuyler County Rams bounced back in style last Friday, securing a thrilling 62-58 win over the North Shelby Raiders. This victory gave the Rams a sweep of their season series with North Shelby, having won their previous encounter as well.
Elliot Sevits was once again the heartbeat of the Rams’ offense, delivering a stellar performance. He rushed for 165 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 7.2 yards per carry. On top of that, he added 64 receiving yards and another touchdown. Sevits has been on a touchdown spree, scoring two or more rushing touchdowns in each of his last six games, a streak that extends back to last season. Brody Weaver was another key contributor, amassing 95 rushing yards and two touchdowns on just 13 carries, providing crucial support to the ground game.
On the defensive side, the Rams’ front line delivered a statement. They relentlessly pressured North Shelby’s quarterback, recording eight sacks in total. Gus Williams and Isaac Arnold led the charge with four combined sacks, while Isaiah Cullers was everywhere on the field, registering a sack and an incredible 20 tackles.
As the scoreline suggests, Schuyler County was nearly unstoppable on the ground, finishing with 305 rushing yards. This dominant rushing attack has become a hallmark of their play, with the team surpassing 209 rushing yards in each of their last six games.
With this win, the Rams improved to 5-3, winning four of their last five games. For North Shelby, the loss snapped a seven-game home winning streak, dropping them to 4-4.
Next up for Schuyler County is a Friday night matchup against Paris at 7:00 p.m. The Rams have been an offensive force, scoring 31 points or more in their past six games, so Paris will need to be ready.
