Highway 63 Vehicle Accident Sends One to Hospital
The driver of a 2004 Dodge pickup was hospitalized, after the truck he was driving was involved in an accident at the intersection of US Highway 63 and MO State Highway 202 on March 26, 2021, at 12:40 p.m.
The accident report of MSHP Tpr. Crose reported that a 2009 Mercedes, driven by a 17 year old juvenile, of Winterset, Iowa, while in the eastbound lane of Highway 202, failed to yield to the Dodge pickup, driven by James D. Steele, 66, of Batavia, Iowa. The pickup, which was in the southbound lane of Highway 63, struck the Mercedes.
Steele was transported to the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri, by the Adair County Ambulance service with serious injuries. It was stated in the accident report that he was not wearing his seatbelt.
Both the driver of the Mercedes and its 15 year old juvenile passenger also from Winterset, refused treatment at the scene of the accident. They were both wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Both vehicles were totaled by the accident and later towed from the scene by Lakeside Towing.
