JOHN CHARLES FARRELL

April 9, 1945 – January 5, 2026

John Charles Farrell, 80 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026 at the Macon Health Care in Macon, Missouri.

The son of Charles Theodore and Nelle Clara (West) Farrell, John was born on April 9, 1945 in Kirksville, Missouri. He was a graduate of Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Missouri. On March 18, 1973 at the Barker Methodist Church, he was united in marriage to Carol Ann Newland and they were blessed with three daughters, Angel Lea, Kali and Kylie.

John is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Farrell of Columbia, Missouri; one daughter, Kali Kelso and significant other, Sean Massa of Macon, Missouri; grandchildren, Aiden Kelso of Glenwood, Missouri, twin granddaughters, Emma and Alexis Clifford of Macon, Missouri and twin grandsons, Parker and Riley Sparks of Lancaster, Missouri; brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; other family members and many good friends.

John is preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Angel Lea Farrell in 1979 and Kylie Keum Farrell in 2015.

John enlisted in the United States Army on October 26, 1963 and served with the 513th MI Group in Heidelberg, Germany as an intel analyst and editing clerk. He was awarded the Good Conduct medal, Rifle M-14 Sharpshooter Award and the National Defense Service medal. He received an honorable discharge on March 25, 1967.

John drove a school bus for Toney Bus Company and continued driving after the company merged with Schuyler R-1 School District.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Aaron Gingerich of Lancaster Christian Church of Lancaster, Missouri officiating. Music will be special selections of “Amazing Grace” and “Go Rest High on That Mountain” with soloist Cole Tippett. Pallbearers will be Aiden Kelso, Sean Massa, Shawn Sparks, Dean Avery, Brad Drummond and Travis Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be George Reindel and Bud Fremon. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Memorials have been established for Schuyler County Nutrition Site. Military Rites will be performed by the Schuyler County American Legion Post #784. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri.
