Schuyler County R-I Earns 79.5% on State Report, Maintains Accreditation
QUEEN CITY, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has released its 2024-25 Annual Performance Report (APR) for the Schuyler County R-I School District. The district earned 79.5 percent of the total points possible, maintaining full accreditation under the Missouri School Improvement Program (MSIP 6). The results show strong attendance, graduation rates, and student readiness for college or careers, along with continued progress in core subjects.
The APR evaluates school districts on academic achievement, growth, attendance, graduation, and readiness for life after high school. Schuyler County’s scores showed a solid performance overall, with notable strength in science and social studies.
In English Language Arts, the district’s mean proficiency index (MPI) was 377.6, just below the state average of 385.5. About 15.6 percent of students scored below basic, while 48.8 percent scored proficient and 8.2 percentadvanced. In mathematics, the MPI was 362.1, compared to the state average of 373.8, with 46.1 percent proficient and 6.9 percent advanced.
Science and social studies results were strong compared to state levels. Schuyler County’s science MPI reached 390.3, well above the statewide 377.3, with 38.6 percent of students proficient and 11.3 percent advanced. Social studies showed similar success, with an MPI of 389.5, and 46.5 percent of students proficient.
The district’s attendance and graduation data were among the highest in the region. Schuyler County reported a four-year graduation rate of 100 percent, compared to the state’s 97.9 percent, and 92.6 percent of students attended school at least 85 percent of the time — nearly ten points higher than the state average. Every student has an Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP), and 100 percent of kindergarten students were screened for school readiness.
Post-graduation data showed that 36 percent of graduates enrolled in college, 32 percent entered the workforce, and 25 percent joined the military or other service programs. The district also earned a perfect 100 percent of available points in the “Continuous Improvement” section, which covers school climate, leadership, and compliance with state and federal standards.
Overall, Schuyler County earned 156 out of 196 total points, placing it in DESE’s “on track” category. The report indicates that the district continues to meet state expectations in all areas while demonstrating particularly strong student engagement, attendance, and readiness for life after graduation.
