Schuyler County will see a nearly $340,000 pavement improvement project under Missouri’s newly approved Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) for fiscal years 2026-2030.
The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission last week approved the five-year plan, which includes over $13 billion in transportation investments across the state.
In Schuyler County, the plan includes:
Route N Pavement Improvement (2028)
Route N will receive pavement improvements from the Iowa state line south to Route 136 in Downing. The project is estimated to cost $338,000, funded with $268,000 in federal dollars and $67,000 from the state. Engineering is scheduled in earlier phases, with construction anticipated to begin following a 2028 award.
The project is part of Missouri Department of Transportation’s commitment to improve rural routes and maintain critical economic connections for agricultural and commuter traffic. MoDOT Director Ed Hassinger said the STIP represents “unprecedented levels of investments” enabled by recent increases in the motor fuel tax, along with additional General Revenue and federal funds.
The STIP outlines over $9.5 billion in road and bridge construction statewide, addressing Missouri’s 33,814 miles of highways and more than 10,000 bridges and culverts.
For more details, the final STIP can be viewed online through MoDOT’s Statewide Transportation Improvement Program portal.
