Lancaster, Mo. – Kade and Chelsea Jackson and family of Downing were among the Missouri families honored at the 68th annual Missouri Farm Family Day on August 11 during the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia.
The Jackson family was chosen as the Schuyler County Missouri Farm Family by University of Missouri Extension and the Adair/Schuyler County Farm Bureau. The family includes Carson, Collin, and Conley.
Each year, the Missouri State Fair designates a day to celebrate farm families from across the state who are engaged in production agriculture, demonstrate strong community involvement and participate in outreach and youth development programs such as 4-H or FFA.
The family operates a multi acre farm. Where they raise beef cattle and row crops. Kade and Chelsea co-own Jackson Brothers Ranch with Kade’s older brother Ronald Jackson. They have bee farming and raising cattle over the last 25 years. Kade also has his own custom haying operation. Kade and Chelsea along with their three sons over the last five years have started raising and breeding Boer goats. Both Kade and Chelsea grew up on family farms and hope to keep farming in the family for many years to come. One way they make sure to give back to their community is by being involved in 4-H and FFA as alumni. Chelsea has been the leader of Downing 4-H club the last five years. She is also a member and officer of Schuyler County Jr. Livestock.
Farm Family Day is made possible through the support of the Missouri Farm Bureau, the Missouri Department of Agriculture, the Missouri State Fair Commissioners, the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, and MU Extension.
“This day is a meaningful tradition that puts the spotlight on the families who are the backbone of Missouri agriculture,” said Missouri State Director Jason Moore. “They’re not only feeding our state and nation, but they’re also leading in their communities and supporting the next generation of agricultural leaders. It’s a honor to recognized their dedication.”
