EDMOND “ED” LEON MCELROY 

November 27, 1930 – March 21, 2024 

Edmond “Ed” Leon McElroy, 93 of rural Queen City, Missouri passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Ridgewood Specialty Care in Ottumwa, Iowa. 

The son of Ollie Willis and Orma Marie (Broadwell) McElroy, he was born on November 27. 1930 in rural Granger, Missouri. On March 28, 1958 he was united in marriage to Anna Lucille Partain and to this union 4 children were born, Velma, Debra, Roy and Terry. On January 25, 1991, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Norman and to this union, Ed gained three daughters, Lisa, Kim and Pam. 

Ed is survived by his wife, Dorothy of rural Queen City, Missouri; children, Velma McElroy of Texas, Debra McElroy of Kirksville, Missouri, Roy McElroy of Downing, Missouri, Terry McElroy of Queen City, Missouri, Lisa Torres of Illinois and Pam Topjian of California; 6 grandchildren, Royal Mitchell “Mitch” McElroy , Bradley Junior “J.R.” Brough, Devin Topjian, Amanda, Ashley and Zachary Fowler; 7 great grandchildren; one brother, Gene McElroy of Excello, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and many good friends and neighbors. 

Ed is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Anna Lucille Partain on March 8, 1993; one daughter, Kim Topjian; 5 brothers, Oscar McElroy, Ralph McElroy, Lester McElroy, Bobby Wayne McElroy and Marvin McElroy; 3 sister, Helen Klein, Hazel Flack and Wilma Lasher. 

Ed worked at Fisher Body Auto for a number of years as a member of the UAW Union, working as a tool die operator. After his retirement from Fisher Body Auto, Ed and Dorothy returned to his family farm in rural Queen City, Missouri where he farmed and he and Dorothy ran McElroy’s Pantry in Downing, Missouri for several years. 

Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Schuyler County Church of Faith in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, Pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith officiating. Music will be special selections of “How Great Thou Art” and “Long Black Train”. Pallbearers will be Mitch McElroy, J.R. Brough, 

Terry Wheeler, Skylar Wheeler, Layton Campbell and Donnie McElroy. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. at the Schuyler County Church of Faith in Lancaster, Missouri.
