Marilyn Jane (Caldwell) Barnhart July 28, 1931 to July 15, 2020

Marilyn Jane (Caldwell) Barnhart, 88, of Bloomfield, Iowa, formerly of rural Lancaster, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield, Iowa.
The daughter of Ira W. and Edna (Fetters) Caldwell, she was born on July 28, 1931, in Washington, Iowa. She was a “49er” graduate of the Washington High School in Washington, Iowa. On March 11, 1952, in Washington, Iowa, she was united in marriage to Asa Oliver Barnhart, and to this union four children were born, Michael, Deborah, Mark, and Matthew.
Marilyn and Oliver lived for about five years, following their marriage in Joliet, Illinois where Oliver was employed in the Arsenal there. They returned to Schuyler County and moved to the farm a few miles east of Lancaster, Missouri, where they had a dairy herd. Marilyn was employed with Southwestern Bell in Washington, Iowa, from 1948 to 1952, and later was employed from 1978 – 2001 with the Schuyler County High School, as a cook in Lancaster, Missouri.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Michael Barnhart and wife, Cheri, of Bloomfield, Iowa, and Deborah Barnhart of Bloomfield, Iowa; three grandchildren, Megan Batterson and husband, Jade, of Bloomfield, Iowa, Blake Barnhart and wife, Abby, of Bloomfield, Iowa, and Brett Barnhart and wife, Stephanie, of Bloomfield, Iowa; six great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Camryn, and Brody Batterson, Charley and Rye Barnhart, and Colt Barnhart all of Bloomfield, Iowa; one sister, Mary Barclay and husband, Allan, of Surprise, Arizona; one sister-in-law, Sarah Beeler of Queen City, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews; and other family members.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; her husband on June 10, 1994; two sons, Mark William Barnhart on August 1, 1973, and Matthew Allen Barnhart on January 15, 1997; and one sister, Ellen Miller and her husband, Everett.
Marilyn was baptized at the Washington Christian Church in Washington, Iowa. She was also a member of the Chit Chat Club in Downing, Missouri, and the Schuyler County Food Room in Lancaster, Missouri.
Marilyn lived on the farm from 1959 until 2013, when she moved to Bloomfield, Iowa to be closer to her family and her grandchildren’s events, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Her family was her life!
Graveside services were held on Friday, July 17, 2020, at 2 p.m. at the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri, with Sonny Smyser, pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith in Lancaster, Missouri, officiating. Pallbearers were Blake Barnhart, Brett Barnhart, Jade Batterson, Joe Vollmer, Brody Batterson, Rye Barnhart, and Colt Barnhart. Visitation was held on Friday, July 17, 2020, between the hours of 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for Mulberry Place Activity Fund in Bloomfield, Iowa. Online condolences may be expressed to the family, by logging on to normanfh.com.
