Raymond Roy Figge

April 1, 1919 – December 28, 2010

Raymond Roy Figge, 91 of Ottumwa, Iowa passed away at his home unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 28, 2010.

The son of Oran Washington and Louise Catherine (Bergman) Figge, he was born on April 1, 1919 in rural Queen City, Missouri. He was inducted on January 16, 1942 in the United States Army and served during World War II. He received an honorable discharge on November 27, 1945. He was later employed as a meat cutter with John Morrell & Company in Ottumwa, Iowa until the company closed. Raymond was never married.

Survivors include special friends, Wanda and Beverly Graham of Ottumwa, Iowa; 2 brothers, Charles H. Figge of Centerville, Iowa and Russell Figge and wife, Alice of Lancaster, Missouri; nieces and nephews and other family members.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Boyd Figge and his wife, Garnet; three sisters, Corinne Gemming and her husband, John, Virginia Riggins and her husband, Luther and Berniece Miller and her first husband, Sherman Snowbarger and also her second husband, Alfred Miller; two siblings who died in infancy, Lloyd and Mary and one sister-in-law, Marie Figge.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith of Lancaster, Missouri officiating. Special CD selections of “The Old Rugged Cross” and “In the Garden” will be played during the services.

Memorials have been established for the family. Burial will be in the Germania Cemetery, east of Queen City, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, Missouri.
